Four copper facilities have been commissioned in Kerman Province in southeastern Iran, said Managing Director of the National Iranian Copper Industries Company Ardashir Sad Mohammadi, Trend reports citing company’s website.
According to Sad Mohammadi, an oxygen plant and a concentrate storage facility were put into operation at the Shahr-e-Babak copper complex in the province and a single-phase sulfuric acid plant was commissioned at the Khatunabad copper smelter.
Sad Mohammadi added that a total of 252 million euros and an additional 2.21 trillion rials (about $52.6 million) had been invested in the facilities and 248 people were employed.
The official said that the capacity of copper concentrate storage capacity at the Shahr-e-Babak copper complex will be 60,000 tons. The oxygen plant of complex will produce 440 tons of oxygen per day.
"Production of anode copper will increase by 50 percent at the Khatunabad copper smelter Thus, the annual production will increase from 80,000 tons to 120,000 tons,” he said.
"About 34 million euros and 350 billion rials (about $8.3 million) have been invested in the commissioning of an oxygen plant and a copper concentrate storage facility at the Shahr-e-Babak copper complex," he said.
The official said that the sulfuric acid plant put into operation in Khatunabad is expected to produce 600,000 tons of sulfuric acid a year.
Sad Mohammadi said that 100 million euros and 750 billion rials (about $17.8 million) were spent on the sulfuric acid plant and 65 people were employed.
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, Iranian Minister of Industry, Mines and Trade Reza Rahmani and other officials attended the ceremony for commissioning of these facilities via a video conference.
