Car production in Iran should increase by 300,000 units in the current Iranian year (starting from March 20, 2020), the Iranian Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Reza Rahmani said, Trend reports citing the ministry.
According to Rahmani, Iran produces 900,000 cars a year.
Rahmani added that given the growing demand, car production should reach 1.2 million units this year.
The minister said that necessary steps must be taken to prevent the rise in car prices in Iran.
"Iran's Ministry of Industry, Mines and Trade has put on the agenda the creation of a new car company to fill the gap between production and demand," he said.
Rahmani said that in addition, the activity of the carmaker, which was suspended, will be resumed.
