Fruits, vegetables export from Uzbekistan significantly down

The volume of exports of fruits and vegetables of Uzbekistan made up more than 362,600 tons in the period from January through April 2020 showing a decrease by 42.4 percent compared to the same period of 2019, Trend reports with reference to the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan.

In value terms, exports exceeded $185.4 million.

Some 308,800 tons of vegetables worth $121 million and 26,800 tons of fruits and berries worth $34.2 million were exported during the reporting period. Their share in total exports reached 4.2 percent.

Kazakhstan accounts for the largest volume in monetary terms of fruit and vegetable exports (25.4 percent), which exceeds the volume of exports to Russia by 1.2 times.

Export of fruit and vegetable products has significantly decreased to China by 29.5 percent, to Kyrgyzstan by 74.9 percent, to Ukraine by 76.8 percent, and to Turkey by 90.2 percent.

At the same time, exports of fruit and vegetable from Uzbekistan grew to a number of countries including Iraq - by 13 percent, Belarus - by 21.2 percent, Pakistan - by 23.4 percent, Russia - by 23.8 percent, Afghanistan - by 34 percent, UAE - by 60 percent, and Tajikistan - by 2.5 times.

Uzbekistan's exports of fruit and vegetables to Azerbaijan in the period from January through April 2020 amounted to 1,900 tons worth $2.2 million compared to 3,200 tons worth $2.5 million exported in the same period of 2019.
