Iran discloses volume of ferrosilicon produced in Semnan Province

The Iranian Ferrosilicon Company in Semnan Province (northern Iran) produces 59,500 tons of ferrosilicon substances a year, Chairman for Industry, Mine and Trade Organization of Iran’s branch in Semnan Province Ali Teshnedel said, Trend reports citing the organization’s website.

According to Teshnedel, the plant of the Iranian Ferrosilicon Company has started operating thanks to investments worth 47 billion rials (about $3.5 million), and the area of this plant is 71,400 square meters.

Teshnedel added that the plant of the Iranian Ferrosilicon Company currently employs 350 people.

"This plant produces 3,000 tons of ferrosilicon magnesium, 25,000 tons of ferrosilicon, 25,000 tons of coal, 6,500 tons of microsilica (silica fume) powder a year, he said.

The chairman said that the products of this plant are used in various fields, including the polymer industry, the production of heat-resistant products, construction materials, steelmaking and others.

There are 84 mines in Iran's Semnan Province. Some 39 of them are fully operational and 45 are being supplied. About 42 types of mining materials are extracted in the province. More than 23 million tons of mining materials are extracted annually from the mines operating in Semnan Province.
