Gasoline, diesel prices up in Kazakhstan

Prices of food items in Kazakhstan increased by 6.8 percent in May 2020 compared to Dec. 2019, and by 1.2 percent compared to Apr. 2020, Trend reports with reference to Kazakhstan’s Statistics Committee.

In turn, prices of non-food items increased by 2.1 percent compared to Dec. 2019 (by 0.4 percent compared to Apr. 2020), whereas prices of paid services increased by 1.2 percent (dropped by 0.3 percent compared to Apr. 2020).

Increase of prices since Dec. 2019 was observed on vegetables by 22.4 percent, fruit by 18.3 percent, granulated sugar by 12.1 percent, cereal by 10.6 percent, butter, pasta by 7.5 percent each, flour by 6.9 percent, hard curd cheese by 5.5 percent, pasteurized milk by 4 percent, tea by 3.7 percent, bakery and flour products by 3.4 percent, dairy products by 3.2 percent, cottage cheese by 3 percent, bread by 2.4 percent.

Among meat types increase of prices was observed on lamb by 8.6 percent, meat products by 6.8 percent, horse meat by 6.7 percent, beef by 6.1 percent, frozen fish by 5.4 percent, pork by 4.2 percent, sausages by 4.1 percent.

Mineral and drinking water went up in price by 5.6 percent, tobacco products by 5.3 percent, cold drinks by 3.4 percent.

A decrease of prices was observed on white cabbage by 27.9 percent, rice by 2.6 percent, millet by 1.7 percent.

The increase of prices for detergents and cleaners was 4.9 perce, medicine 4.7 percent, personal products 4.5 percent, household appliances 3.6 percent, cars 3.4 percent, construction materials 2.1 percent. Gasoline prices went up by 3.4 percent, while those of diesel fuel fell 2.9 percent.
