A warehouse for storage of 16,000 tons of grain will be built in the Astara port of Astara county in Gilan Province of Iran, Chairman of Ports and Maritime Organization of Iran’s (PMO) branch in the Astara county Kianoush Amiri told IRNA, Trend reports.
Amiri noted that in addition, a contract was signed for the construction of five warehouses in the port during two years.
The chairman stressed that so far, a 10,000-square-meter covered warehouse, 4,200-square-meter open warehouse, a 16,000-ton grain warehouse and a 150-meter-long platform have been created in the Astara port.
The port covers an area of 60 hectares and employs 370 people, he added.
“The volume of the cargo loaded and unloaded in the port increased by 35 percent during the first three months of the current Iranian year [from March 20 through June 20, 2020] compared to the same period last Iranian year,” he said.
