Turkmenistan’s Akhal, Dashoguz regions harvest largest volume of wheat

Turkmenistan’s Akhal and Dashoguz regions have harvested the largest volume of wheat in Turkmenistan, having received 400,000 tons and 265,000 tons of wheat respectively, Trend reports with reference to Turkmenistan’s State News Agency.

In the Akhal region, 195,000 hectares of land were allocated for wheat harvesting.

Kaakhkinsky district of Akhal region collected more than 80,500 tons of wheat, while Baharly District received 44,000 tons of wheat.

For wheat harvesting in Dashoguz region, 145,000 hectares of land were allocated.

District named after Saparmurat Turkmenbashi received over 50, 500 tons of wheat, Kunya-Urgench district - more than 30,800 tons, Akdepe district – 34,500 tons, Gurbansoltan Eje district – 30,500 tons, Boldumsaz district over 18,500 tons, and Ruhubelent district - 16,500 tons.

A large amount of wheat was also collected in the Mary, Lebap, and Balkan regions.

Turkmenistan's authorities allocate state land for wheat production to enterprises and provides them with seeds, mineral fertilizers and means for combating agricultural pests on preferential terms.

Reportedly, agriculture in Turkmenistan is developing rapidly. It is one of the most important sectors of the country's economy. The main types of agricultural crops grown on the territory of Turkmenistan are wheat, cotton, rice, sugar beet, fodder, vegetable and fruits.
