Iran approves long-term strategic agreement with China

TEHRAN, Iran, June 29

Trend:

The Iranian cabinet has approved the final draft of the 25-year roadmap for Iran-China strategic relations during the government regular meeting, Trend reports citing IRNA.

The agreement provides for supply of machinery, equipment and basic material to both countries, said Deputy Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade.

"The agreement also entails cooperation in ICT, trade and commercial sectors," said Hamid Zadboum,

"Part of the agreement relates to Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade and envisages provision of basic materials and equipment needed by Iran, while the country can supply goods demanded in China," Zadboum added.

"The Trade Promotion Organization of Iran has established a barter chamber last month, and experts of the chamber will train both exporters and importers in the barter process," he noted. "The organization will also connect importers to those exporters that are willing to assign their foreign currency revenue to import machinery, basic goods and material."

"This plan paves the ground for Iran-China collaboration in key projects and infrastructural development, including the great Belt and Road Initiative. It is an opportunity to attract investment in different economic sectors such as industry, tourism, information technology and communications," said Iranian President Rouhani during the cabinet meeting.

Iran drafted the 25-year roadmap for strategic relations with China that was presented by the Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif to Chinese authorities during his visit to Beijing in early 2019.
