TOP-3 non-oil export products of Azerbaijan

The top-3 non-oil products of Azerbaijan exported from January through May 2020 were tomatoes, gold and peeled hazelnuts, worth $238.8 million, Trend reports citing the Export Review of the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication (CAERC).

Over the reporting period, Azerbaijan exported fresh tomatoes in the amount of $123.1 million, which is 18.1 percent more compared to the same period last year.

Gold ranks second in the list of products exported by Azerbaijan. The amount of exported gold in the first 5 months of 2020 amounted to $64.7 million, showing year-on-year growth of 26.8 percent. The third place in the country’s export is taken by peeled hazelnuts, which were exported in the amount of $51 million (down 21 percent over the year).

In 2019, Azerbaijan exported raw cotton worth $122.4 million, persimmon - $104.7 million, electricity - $76.8 million, methanol - $64.6 million, recycled polyethylene - $64 million, primary polypropylene - $65.7 million, and other products in the amount of $970.2 million.

In 1Q2019, persimmon, electricity, and peeled hazelnuts led in terms of export volume. The persimmon with exports value worth $12.6 million was leading in January 2019, electricity export worth $19.4 million - in February 2019, and peeled hazelnuts exported in the amount of $13.7 million - in March 2019.

In 2Q2019, tomato was the leading export product ($112.6 million).

In the third and the beginning of the fourth quarter of 2020, gold was being the top export, from July through September ($77.6 million), persimmon was on top from October through November ($64.1 million), tomatoes were on top in the fourth quarter of 2020 with $22.6 million.
