Georgia reveals volume of exported peaches

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 15

Since the beginning of the harvest season, 6,179 tons of peaches and apples were exported from Georgia, which is 640 tons more comparing to the same period of the previous year, Trend reports referring to the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture.

As many as 5,539 tons of peaches and apples were exported by that time in 2019.

The main importers were Russia (3,796 tons) and Azerbaijan (417 tons). The fruits were also exported Kazakhstan, Slovenia, Moldova and Singapore (109 tons), said the ministry.

This year, Georgia is expecting an abundant harvest of peaches and nectarines, with a total forecast of 35,000 tons. Twenty refrigeration plants are engaged in the fruit storing process.

The price of peach delivery varies between 1 lari (33 cents) and 1.50 lari (49 cents), and nectarine - from 1.40 lari (46 cents) to 2 lari (66 cents).
