Volume of wheat purchased in Iran's Sistan & Baluchestan Province up

The volume of wheat purchased from farmers in the Sistan and Baluchestan Province (southeastern Iran) has doubled from the beginning of current Iranian year (March 20, 2020) to July 18, Director General of the Government Trading Corporation (GTC) of Iran’s branch in Sistan and Baluchestan Province Gholamali Ganjali said, Trend reports citing the corporation’s official website.

Ganjali said that so far, 34,500 tons of wheat have been purchased in the province.

The GTC director general said that the cost of purchased wheat is more than 860 billion rials (about $20.4 million), and so far, more than 95 percent of it has been paid to farmers.

Ganjali stressed that 815 tons of rapeseed worth 38 billion rials (about $90,400) have been purchased in the province so far.

As much as 5.9 million tons of wheat was purchased from farmers in Iran, as of July 16.

The price of rapeseed to be purchased from farmers in the current planting year is set at 46,600 rials (about $1.1) per kilogram. A number of products, including wheat, tea, rice and other products are purchased from farmers by a state company under a guarantee in Iran.
