Copper ores, concentrates rank first among export items in Georgia

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 20

From January through June 2020, copper ores and concentrates reclaimed the first place in the list of top export items, equaling $332.4 million or 22.1 percent of total exports in Georgia, Trend reports with reference to National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).

The exports of motor cars totaled $184.1 million and their share in the total exports amounted to 12.2 percent. The ferroalloys' exports occupied the third place standing at $117.6 million and constituting 7.8 percent of the total exports.

The top import commodities in January-June 2020 were motor cars whose imports equaled $289.9 million (8.2 percent of the total imports).

The copper ores and concentrates followed in the list with $234.1 million or 6.6 percent of imports. The petroleum and petroleum oils were third in the top import commodity list with $231.6 million (6.5 percent of imports).

The external merchandise trade (excluding non-declared trade) of Georgia amounted to $5.05 billion from January through June 2020, 18.2 percent lower to the same period of 2019.
