Iran received a total of 40,000 tons of fish and fishery products caught in the Caspian Sea in the last Iranian year (from March 21, 2019 to March 20, 2020), Chairman of the Iran Fisheries Organization Nabiollah Khon Mirzaei said at a press conference, Trend reports citing IRIB.
The chairman said that in total, the production of Iran's fish and fishery products amounted to 1.28 million tons in the last Iranian year.
Khon Mirzaei added that of this volume, 750,000 tons amounted for fish, and 550,000 tons - for fishery products.
The largest producers were Bushehr, Hormozgan, and Sistan and Baluchestan provinces, he said.
The chairman emphasized that the top-three in the fish farming sector were Kurdistan, Mazandaran and Gilan provinces.
Khon Mirzaei noted that Iran exported $440 million worth of fish and fishery products in the last Iranian year.
