Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Energy is closely cooperating with its international partners-operators of Kashagan, Karachaganak, Tengiz oil and gas fields for further expansion of these projects, First Vice-Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Murat Zhurebekov told Kazakhstan’s Association of Oil Service Companies, Trend reports with reference to the association.
Talking expansion works at the Tengiz field, Zhurebekov reminded that the work on the Future Growth Project – Wellhead Pressure Management Project (FGP-WPMP) project was halted amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
“However, in September 2020, Tengizchevroil is planning to re-mobilize people and its contractors, thus planning to mobilize about 20,000 people by the end of the year. Of course, the situation with the pandemic in the region will be taken into account,” he said.
In turn, Zhurebekov said that active work is underway at the Karachaganak field on implementation of the projects for the extension of the production (LNG and 4th compressor), as well as the Karachaganak-1 Expansion Project.
“Our joint goal is to maximize production extension at current levels,” he said.
Talking Kashagan fields operations Zhurebekov said that final investment decisions regarding projects to modernize compressors for gas re-injection and gas supplies for gas processing plants are to be made this year.
“As a result, production is projected to increase to 420,000 barrels per day,” he said.
Talking smaller oil and gas projects Zhurebekov noted numerous investment projects such as increase production at the fields owned by KazMunayGas, CNPC, and other subsoil users, as well as projects to expand the pipeline infrastructure of Caspian Pipeline Consortium, KazTransOil, KazTransGas, etc.
