Geostat reveals Georgia's external merchandise trade volume

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Sept.14

External Merchandise Trade (excluding non-declared trade) of Georgia amounted to $7.02 billion from January through August 2020, Trend reports citing the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).

According to the Geostat, this is 16.7 percent lower, year-on-year.

The value of export decreased by 14.7 percent reaching $2.07 billion, while the import decreased by 17.5 percent and amounted to $4.95 billion.

The trade deficit equaled $2.88 billion and its share in trade turnover constituted 41 percent.

Meanwhile, the external merchandise trade (excluding non-declared trade) of Georgia amounted to $6.03 billion from January through July 2020, 17.6 percent lower compared to the same period of 2019.

In the reporting period, the share of the top ten trading partners by imports in the total imports of Georgia amounted to 69.5 percent. The top-3 partners were Turkey ($728.6 million), Russia ($473 million) and China ($379.3 million).
