For the first time, Azerbaijan’s Az-Granata company plans to export pomegranate products to Sweden in 2021, Head of the export department of the Az-Granata company, Tural Hajiyev, told Trend.

“At present, we’re negotiating on export supplies to Sweden by the end of 2020. However, due to the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic in the world, the bulk of exports will fall on 2021,'' Hajiyev said.

“Since early 2020 to date, revenues from exports have amounted to roughly $3 million, increasing by 85 percent over the year. The main export countries were Russia, Turkey, Germany, Canada, America, China, Australia, Malaysia, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Poland, Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, and Ukraine,” said the company’s representative.

The greatest demand was for wine products, pomegranate concentrate, pomegranate juice, vodka, cognac, and so on, he said.

In 2020, Az-Granata introduced a new product - a pomegranate seed.

“The demand for pomegranate juice, cognac, and various types of wine has been recently gaining momentum. The production volume is also increasing in parallel with the increase in the number of countries wishing to import pomegranate juices and wine. Today the monthly production volume is 500,000 bottles. It is planned to increase the volume by 15-20 percent by late 2020,"

Az-Granata plant, built-in 2011 and covering a 12.5 hectare-area, is one of the biggest producers of alcoholic beverages in the South Caucasus. Besides cognac and wine, the company produces liqueurs, vodka, as well as fruit juices.
