According to the program of the document for preliminary evaluation of the re-commissioning an iron ore deposit in Azerbaijan’s Dashkasan district, exploration is expected to be completed in the first half of 2021, while the study and preliminary evaluation report - in the second half of the same year, Trend reports citing the Ministry of Economy.
The study, exploration, development and management of iron ore deposits were entrusted to AzerGold Closed Joint-Stock Company (CJSC).
The company was also entrusted to introduce new technologies in this area, upgrade the material and technical base, as well as implement measures for the development of the industry.
For the purpose of getting familiarized with the status of execution of the President’s corresponding order, Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov visited the Dashkasan iron ore deposit and the Chovdar gold deposit to get familiarized with the issue.
It was noted that based on the results of geological exploration work, geological models of the iron ore deposit will be drawn up, while existing resources will be recalculated in accordance with JORC international standards.
In accordance with the decree of Azerbaijani president from August 6, 2020, AzerGold started to conduct geophysical research and exploration work within the preparation of the preliminary evaluation document to re-commission the Dashkasan iron ore deposit.
The deposit was continuously exploited from 1954 to 1994. During this period, 92 million tons of minerals were extracted.
