BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 28

By Jeila Aliyeva - Trend:

Turkmenistan and Malaysia will continue to develop trade and economic ties, Trend reports with reference to Turkmenistan’s State News Agency

This was stated during a telephone conversation between President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Prime Minister of Malaysia Muhyiddin Yassin.

Malaysia is one of the priority partners of Turkmenistan in the Asia-Pacific region. In particular, countries interact both bilaterally and multilaterally, as well as within the framework of the United Nations (UN) and other international structures.

The parties effectively cooperate in the oil and gas sector. For example, the Malaysian state-owned company Petronas Charigali operates in Turkmenistan.

In addition to energy, the countries have opportunities for cooperation in the field of information and communication technologies and digitalization of the economy, the introduction of advanced scientific developments.

Both countries demonstrate their readiness to further strengthen mutually beneficial ties in the trade and economic sphere, transport and industrial sectors, high technologies, and other promising sectors.

Turkmenistan's interest in Malaysia is primarily related to the activities of the state oil and gas company Petronas Charigali, which has been developing oil fields in the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Ыea since 1996.
