Some 31 investment projects worth 33.3 billion tenge ($77.6 million) are currently being implemented in the agro-industrial sector of Kazakhstan’s Karaganda region, Trend reports citing the regional akimat (administrative center).

The report said that livestock breeding is also developing steadily in the region, and livestock production is increasing.

Good harvest was observed in the region this year and thus over a million tons of grain were threshed, two thirds of which is high-quality wheat. This is 22.6 percent more than in 2019. Agricultural producers also harvested about 270,000 tons of potatoes and 53,000 tons of vegetables.

All region’s 126 vegetable and potato storage facilities are filled completely. Also, a reserve and stabilization funds have been created which include 36,300 tons of grain, 4,051 tons of potatoes and 660 tons of other vegetables.

The report said that measures taken in the agro-industrial complex make it possible to quickly respond to price changes. In general, there is no shortage of food products in the region.
