Trade takes up largest share in total turnover of Georgian business sector

The trade sector (including repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles) has the highest share (38.3 percent) in the total turnover in the business sector in Georgia in the third quarter of 2020, Trend reports referring to National Statistics Office (Geostat).

As reported, it followed by arts, entertainment, and recreation with 28.4 percent share, manufacturing – 9.7 percent, construction – 7.9 percent, transportation, and storage – 4.5 percent, electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply – 2.6 percent and other sectors with 8.7 percent share.

In the reporting period, manufacturing (23.7 percent), construction (20.7 percent), trade (18.8 percent), and transportation and storage (8.3 percent) are in the top four places in business sector
production value. The rest of the sectors have a 28.5 percent share.

In the third quarter of 2020, trade (wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles), manufacturing, and human health and social work activities are leading in the business sector by a number of employees (accordingly with 27.5 percent, 13 percent, and 11.1 percent share).

However, construction activities (9.6 percent), enterprises engaged in transportation and storage (8.1 percent), and accommodation and food service activities (4.8 percent) have also a significant share.

By regions, Tbilisi and the following regions are leading in gross turnover:

• Tbilisi – 77.3 percent
• Adjara – 5.0 percent
• Kvemo Kartli – 4.8 percent
• Imereti – 3.7 percent
• Samegrelo-Zemo svaneti – 2.7 percent

By regions, Tbilisi and the following regions are still leading in gross production value:

• Tbilisi – 62.6 percent
• Kvemo Kartli – 8.2 percent
• Adjara – 8.0 percent
• Imereti – 5.4 percent
• Samegrelo-Zemo svaneti – 4.4 percent

The number of employees by regions is distributed as follows:

• Tbilisi – 65.7 percent
• Adjara – 8.6 percent
• Imereti – 6.9 percent
• Kvemo Kartli – 5.6 percent
• Samegrelo-Zemo svaneti – 3.6 percent.
