Turkmenistan increases imports of dairy products from EAEU countries

Turkmenistan increased imports of condensed and powdered milk and cream 2.7 times from the countries of the European Economic Union from January through September of 2020, compared to the same period last year, Trend reports with reference to the Eurasian Economic Commission.

In the reporting period, Turkmenistan imported more than 540 tons of condensed and powdered milk and cream from countries such as Belarus and Russia, totaling $1.1 million, which is also 3.4 times more than the amount of Turkmenistan's imports of condensed and powdered milk and cream for the same period last year.

According to statistics, the share of Belarus in the total exports amounted to more than $973,500, and the share of Russia-more than $166,429.

Also, during this period, Turkmenistan imported more than 390 tons of cheese and cottage cheese, totaling more than $1 million, which is also more than the amount of imports of cheese and cottage cheese for 9 months of last year by 26.3 percent.

Thus, the exporting countries of cheese and yogurt in this period were Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia. At the same time, the share of Belarus in the total export amounted to $500,673, Kazakhstan-$11,081, and Russia – $495,636.

From January through August, Turkmenistan imported more than 324 tons of cheese and cottage cheese, totaling $834,846, which is also 33 percent more than the amount of imports of cheese and cottage cheese for 8 months of last year.
