BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 16

By Jeila Aliyeva - Trend:

Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit's (GIZ) portfolio in Turkmenistan currently consists of national components of four projects, GIZ told Trend.

“Together with the partner, the Ministry of Economy and Development of Turkmenistan, the German-Turkmen Manager Training Programme prepares executives from Turkmen small and medium-sized enterprises since 2008 specifically for business initiation and economic cooperation with German enterprises,” said GIZ about the first project.

Green Central Asia (06/2020 – 03/2024) aims at conflict prevention and strengthening transboundary cooperation on the impact of climate change in Central Asia, establishing a regional political dialogue on questions of environmental and climate-related security risks, and building capacities concerning environmental governance clarified GIZ the second project.

In terms of the third project, GIZ said that together with the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment Protection of Turkmenistan, the current project Integrative and Climate Sensitive Land Use in Central Asia (duration 05/2016 – 02/2021) aims at supporting different groups of land users, governmental agencies, and the private sector in Central Asia to adopt integrated, economically, and ecologically sustainable forms of land use, incorporating climate change considerations.

“The project Promotion of the rule of law in Central Asia for sustainable economic development (02/2018 – 01/2023) supports Turkmenistan in reforms in the legal and judicial sector and thus wants to contribute to improving legal security. Main partners of the project in Turkmenistan are the Turkmen Parliament, the Ministry of Justice, and the Supreme Court, as well as the Institute for State, Law, and Democracy of Turkmenistan,” explained GIZ its last project in Turkmenistan.
