Iran unveils number of active mines in Bushehr province

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Dec. 17

There are 120 active mines in the Bushehr Province (southern Iran) at present, said Hossein Hosseini, Chairman of Industry, Mine, and Trade Organization of Bushehr Province, Trend reports citing the organization.

Hosseini noted that there are a total of 258 mines in Iran's Bushehr Province.

The chairman added that the exploration operations in the Bushehr Province are mainly conducted for oil. In addition, the province's mining reserves are mainly lime, calcium carbonate, bauxite, dolomite and cement.

“In general, 6 million tons of mining materials were extracted in Bushehr Province during the first six months of the current Iranian year (March 20 through September 21, 2020),” he said.

Hosseini emphasized that a total of 940 billion rials (about $22.4 million) has been invested on the mines in Bushehr Province and 1,350 people work in these mines.
