Iran boosts its imports

Iran's imports increased by 20.5 percent in the 9th month of the current Iranian year (November 21 through December 20, 2020), compared to the 8th month (October 22 through November 20), Spokesman for the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) Rouhollah Latifi said, Trend reports citing IRICA.

The official emphasized that Iran imported about 3.73 billion worth of goods in the ninth month. While in the 8th month of the current Iranian year (October 22 through November 20), Iran imported $3.09 billion worth of goods.

He added that Iran imported 354,000 tons of goods worth $1.03 million from China, 506,000 tons worth $854 million from the UAE, and 316,000 tons worth $357 million from Turkey over the reporting month.

Latifi noted that Iran also imported 212,000 tons of goods worth $229 million from India and 27,000 tons worth $160 million from Germany.

According to the spokesman, the share of the five countries in Iran's imports amounted to 70 percent in terms of value and 45 percent in terms of volume.

“In addition, Iran transited 718,000 tons of goods during the 9th month,” he said.

Latifi also said that the value of Iran's trade turnover in the ninth month was $7.37 billion.

Iran exported 85.2 million tons of goods worth $25 billion during the first nine months of the current Iranian year (March 20-December 20, 2020). The exports decreased by 20 percent in terms of value and 17 percent in terms of volume, compared to the same period last Iranian year.
