BAKU, Azerbaijan, Dec. 28

By Nargiz Sadikhova - Trend:

Certification of reservoirs and their stocking with fish was launched in Kazakhstan’s Karaganda region in 2020 and will be further continued next year, Trend reports citing the regional akimat (Administrative center).

Thus, a regional program for the development of fishery sector has been developed which will cover the period of next ten years. The program’s implementation will begin in 2021.

Currently, the region has 127 fishery reservoirs of local importance and three ones of republican importance. Some 67 water bodies of local importance are assigned to 49 natural resource users, the remaining 60 are included in the reserve fund. There are 32 fish species represented in the region, of which 11 are of commercial value.

Some 19.6 million carp larvae were also released into rivers and lakes this year. The regional budget for the next year oversees funds for stocking of reservoirs with fish and certification of reserve reservoirs.

The region has a goal set up to increase the artificial cultivation of commercial fish to 15,000 tons by 2030. To do so the number of fish farms in the region is to be increased.

Next year the state support measures to the fishery sector are also to be improved and expanded.
