By Fidan Babayeva - Trend:

Within two years, Azerbaijan will develop a five-year strategy and a three-year action plan to strengthen agricultural advisory services, Trend reports citing the FAO Partnership and Liaison Office in Azerbaijan.

According to the organization, the strategy is being developed on the basis of the ‘Strengthening agricultural consulting services’ project, funded by the EU and implemented by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the UN.

This strategy, which will be presented to the Ministry of Agriculture, will propose a new model that uses the best practices of the EU as well as adapted to local conditions, FAO said.

“A new strategy and model is currently under discussion. In 2021, this model will be tested in Ganja-Gazakh and Guba-Khachmaz regions. Then, based on the results, the strategic plan will be amended,” said the message.

In November 2016, the FAO and the government of Azerbaijan signed the Partnership Program for 2016-2020.

Azerbaijan has been a member of the FAO since 1995. The office of the organization has been operating in the country since 2007.
