Iran has produced more than 120 million tons of agricultural products since the beginning of the current Iranian year (March 20, 2020), Spokesman of Ministry of Agriculture Jihad, Mohammad Mehdi Borumandi said, Trend reports citing the ministry.
According to Borumandi, 82 million tons of produced agricultural products are cultivation products.
Borumandi added that 13.7 million tons of wheat was produced in the current Iranian year. Some parts of it was purchased by the Government Trade Organization of Iran (GTC) under a guarantee.
The spokesman noted that furthermore, 4.4 million tons of rice and 3.9 million tons of barley were also produced in the current Iranian year.
“The wheat was planted on 4 million hectares of dry farming land and 2 million hectares of irrigated land. At the same time, barley was planted on 40,000 hectares of dry farming land and 700,000 hectares irrigated land. In addition, the rapeseed has been planted on about 200,000 hectares of land,” he said.
