Iranian trucks start the cargo transportation to Azerbaijan without transshipment, said Hossein Kakhaki, Director General of the International Cooperation Department of the Iran Customs Administration (IRICA), Trend reports citing IRICA.

The director general stressed that in this regard, an agreement was reached at the 14th meeting of the Azerbaijan-Iran Intergovernmental Economic Commission on the economic, trade, and humanitarian cooperation in Tehran.

Kakhaki added that previously, the cargo was transported to Azerbaijan with transshipment in connection with the spread of coronavirus pandemic.

“This resulted in overcrowding at the Astara customs checkpoint and delays for trucks,” he said.

The 14th meeting of the Azerbaijan-Iran Intergovernmental Economic Commission on the economic, trade, and humanitarian cooperation was held in Tehran on January 18. A document was signed at the meeting to develop cooperation in certain sectors.
