Iran unveils enterprises in industrial, mining sector of East Azerbaijan Province

There are currently 4,800 industrial enterprises operating in the East Azerbaijan Province (northwestern Iran), Chairman of Industry, Mine and Trade Organization of East Azerbaijan Province Habib Aminzadeh told journalists, Trend reports citing the ISNA.

The chairman stressed that about 140,000 people work in these enterprises and 90 percent of the the enterprises are managed by the private sector.

“The activities of 150 enterprises are planned to be restored in the province in the current Iranian year (from March 20, 2020 to March 21, 2021). The activities of 110 enterprises have been restored so far,” he added.

Aminzadeh said that at present, work is underway on the construction and development of 1,900 enterprises in the East Azerbaijan Province. The focus is on the launch of 800 enterprises, which has more than 75-percent physical progress in the construction. About 200 trillion rials (about $4.76 billion) has been spent on these enterprises and 43,000 people are expected to be employed.

The chairman noted that moreover, there are 735 mines discovered in the East Azerbaijan Province. The mining materials are extracted from 400 mines. Some 12,000 people have been employed at the mines in the province.

According to Aminzadeh, of the 57 types of mining materials determined in Iran, 37 are in Iran's East Azerbaijan Province. There are 13 copper mines, 8 gold mines, 7 iron mines and 3 nepheline mines in the province.
