Azerbaijan's 2M2021 metallurgical production shrinks

The value of raw materials produced in the Azerbaijani metallurgical industry over the first two months of 2021 made up 119.2 million manat ($70.1 million), down by 6.1 percent compared to 2M2020, Trend reports citing the report of the Azerbaijani State Statistical Committee.

During the mentioned period, 32,800 tons of steel were produced in Azerbaijan, which is a decline of 24.1 percent in annual terms. Meanwhile, the country produced 30,300 tons of fittings, down by 29.1 percent year on year.

In accordance with the report, from January through February 2021, 5,200 tons of steel pipes were produced (a rise of 26.8 percent). Up to 2,600 tons of primary alloys were obtained from unprocessed aluminum, a decrease of 50 percent.

Prefabricated building structures made of ferrous metals worth 3.5 million manat ($2 million) were produced, a decrease of 36.4 percent, other structures made of ferrous metals - about 4,800 tons, an increase of 4.3 percent.

Some 605 tons of flexible wires, cables, and bare copper wire, showing a drop of 53.5 percent, were produced.

The volume of raw materials production in the Azerbaijani metallurgical industry amounted to 707 million manat ($415.8 million) in 2020, rising by 11.9 percent compared to the previous year.

The production of finished metal products increased by 7.3 percent.
