Iran's non-oil export from northern ports via Khazar Sea Shipping Lines has increased more than 60 percent in current Iranian year (started March 20,2020) compare to last Iranian year (started March 21,2019), said the Managing Director of Khazar Sea Shipping Lines Company.
"We are increasing the export of non-oil cargo via sea shipment, the launch of container shipment has become institutionalized since recent months and the non-oil export has increased 60 percent," said Davood Tafti, Trend reports citing ILNA.
"The current commodity shipment from country's northern ports is about 30 percent of commodities that are being exported via land borders to the Caspian Sea state while the remaining 70 percent are transit by railway or roads that indicate sea shipment has considerable share in transportation," he said referring to launch of container shipment line from Fereydunkenar port.
"Significant investments have been made in the northern ports and we should use capacities of these ports. Khazar Sea Shipping Lines Company is announcing its regular plan in shipment to the Chambers of Commerce and Ports and Maritime Organization," the director noted.
"Fereydunkenar port is one of the northern ports that has good capacity to transport commodities and due to its close location to transit route , the port's capacities should be used. The aim of the Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Line Group (IRISL) is to reduce transportation price, and transportation time and preserve shipment security. The sea shipment prices are the same but the transportation tariff via land to Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan and Russia constantly changes," Tafti pointed out.
The connection of Fereydunkenar port to container shipment network and joining other northern ports including Astara, Anzali, Nowshaher, Amirabad and Caspian would increase import, export and transit process.
