Turkmenistan and Tajikistan have the potential for cooperation in such areas as transport, oil and gas industry, electric power industry, and agriculture, Trend reports, citing the State News Agency of Turkmenistan.
This was stated during a telephone conversation between the President of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, and the President of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon.
The search for new, promising areas of trade and economic partnership is of particular importance.
In general, the heads of the state exchanged views on a wide range of issues of interstate cooperation, including in the political and diplomatic, trade and economic, cultural, and humanitarian spheres.
Turkmenistan and Tajikistan also successfully cooperate, providing mutual support, within the framework of authoritative international organizations, in particular, the UN, the OSCE, the CIS, and the OIC.
Meanwhile, the sides stressed the importance of stimulating fruitful contacts in the fields of culture, science, and education.
Earlier, Turkmenistan and Tajikistan discussed issues of effective water use in the region.
Thus, the parties exchanged views on the practical implementation of the proposals aimed at improving the environmental condition of the Aral Sea, the development of water management, economy, and social sphere in this region.
