By Tamilla Mammadova – Trend:

Georgia will soon resume talks on free trade agreement with India, said Georgia's Finance Minister Lasha Khutsishvili, Trend reports via Georgian media.

He made the remark at the 54th annual meeting of the Asian Development Bank.

In his speech, Lasha Khutsishvili stressed that Georgia is the only country that has a free trade regime with both China and the European Union.

"The COVID-19 pandemic has shown us how interdependent we are, so we should try our best not to create artificial barriers. Georgia is the only country that has a free trade regime with China, the European Union and all our neighbors. Negotiations are underway and will soon resume talks on free trade agreement with India. Now, the situation is hard there due to the pandemic, so I take this opportunity to express my support for them in the fight against the pandemic," he said.

As he noted, international economic cooperation will become a driving force for economic recovery in the post-pandemic era.

"I think this direction will help us to effectively overcome the economic difficulties caused by COVID-19 pandemic," said Khutsishvili.
