UNCTAD aims to ensure implementation of "Single Window" principle in Turkmenistan

UNCTAD part of Single window for export and import operations project is to ensure the effective implementation of Turkmenistan's Single Window principle through simplifying and harmonizing interagency business processes, strengthening interaction between the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan and other governmental authorities engaged in control of import and export operations, UNCTAD’s economist Dmitry Godunov told Trend.

Also, the activities of UNCTAD in Turkmenistan within the framework of the above-mentioned project include: promoting integrated monitoring and control of licenses, certificates and permits, implementing interagency risk management in the customs clearance process.

“UNCTAD technical assistance includes capacity building for governmental employees on operation in the Single Window environment,” he added.

The project is expected to contribute to implementation of national strategies of digitalization of economy and enhancement of foreign economic activity, to further strengthen the operational capacity of Customs and governmental controlling agencies, to create favorable conditions for the business community, to promote export and to give additional incentives to entrepreneurial activities.

“The long-term goal of this project is to enhance public institutions, improve public finances and strengthen the economy of Turkmenistan through improved efficiency of the environment and facilitation of enabling conditions for foreign trade and strengthening the country's capacity for transit and participation in global and regional trade,” he noted.
