The first container block train departed from Georgian Poti to Uzbekistan's capital Tashkent, Trend reports referring to a source in ADY Container, a subsidiary of Azerbaijan Railways CJSC.
According to the source, the block train operators are the Georgian GR Logistics and Terminals, the Azerbaijani ADY Container, the Turkmen TULM, and the Uzbek Ozbektemirekspedition.
"The train, which will pass through the territory of Azerbaijan, consists of 58 40-foot containers. It will transport aluminum-containing industrial products manufactured in the European Union countries to Central Asia," the source said.
As the source noted, after arriving at the Baku International Sea Trade Port, the containers will be sent to the port of Turkmenbashi [located in Turkmenistan] by a feeder vessel operated by ADY Container. Then the train will continue its movement along the railways of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
A total of 200 containers will be transported under this project.
