Iran's foreign trade turnover soars

Iran's foreign trade turnover in the non-oil sector increased by 14 percent in terms of value and 35 percent in terms of volume in the 3rd month of the current Iranian year (May 22 through June 21, 2021), compared to the 2nd month (April 21 through May 21, 2021), Spokesman for the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) Rouhollah Latifi said, Trend reports citing the administration.

Latifi stressed that Iran's foreign trade turnover within the mentioned month amounted to 16.1 million tons worth $8.05 billion.

He added that Iran's non-oil exports amounted to 13 million tons worth about $4.37 billion in the third month. Compared to the second month, Iran's exports increased by 30 percent in terms of value and 52 percent in terms of volume.

The spokesman said that Iran exported 6.49 million tons of goods worth $1.39 billion to Iraq, 2.45 million tons worth $1.09 billion to China, 1 million tons worth $426 million to the UAE, and 475,000 tons worth $205 million to Afghanistan and 279,000 tons worth $205 million to Turkey in the 3rd month.

According to Latifi, Iran imported 3.05 million tons of goods worth $3.69 billion during the reporting month. The imports decreased by 1 percent in terms of value and 8 percent in terms of volume compared to the second month.

“So, Iran imported 1.11 million tons worth $1.32 billion from the UAE, 222,000 tons worth $729 million from China, 307,000 tons worth $384 million from Turkey, 83,000 tons worth $129 million from Germany and 113,000 tons worth $101 million from Switzerland within 3rd month,” he noted.

The official emphasized that moreover, 901,000 tons of goods were transited through Iran in the third month of the current Iranian year. The transit decreased by 3 percent, compared to the second month of the current Iranian year.
