Iran's export to Azerbaijan and Russia increase

TEHRAN, Iran, July 22

Iran's export to Azerbaijan and Russia increased in the last Iranian year (started March 20, 2020) despite the coronavirus crisis and Karabakh war, said the spokesman of the Iran Customs Administration.

Iran's export to Russia and Azerbaijan has increased despite the global pandemic that caused the closure of most borders and stopped commercial activities, Rohullah Lotfi told Trend in an interview.

Iran exported more than 1.5 million tons of commodity valued at $575,000 to Russia of these 604,000 tons were exported via Azerbaijan.

Iran has exported 360,000 tons of its commodities to Russia via Astara and Bileh Savar borders that were transported through Azerbaijan to Russia via the Samur border.

About 244,000 tons of commodities were exported from Iran to Russia via the Azerbaijani railway from the Astara border while about 446,000 tons of commodities were transported from Amirabad, Freydon Kenar, Nowshahr, Anzali, Astara ports to Russia.

"Iran's export to Russia increased 14 percent in last Iranian year (started March 20, 2020), compare to the previous year, despite limitations for transportation caused by Coronavirus the cooperation of related organizations in foreign commercial trade and especially Iran's embassy in Baku had made it possible," Lotfi added.

Iran has exported 1.3 million tons of commodity valued at $987,000 to Azerbaijan in the last Iranian year which was an 11 percent increase compared to 2019.

Iran has exported 396,000 tons of commodities to Azerbaijan via road and the rest via railway and sea.

About 100,000 trucks transported Iranian commodities from Iran to Azerbaijan which was later transported to Russia and other countries via Astara and Bileh Savar borders in the last Iranian year. During the first three months of the current Iranian year total of 21,753 trucks transported export goods.

Iran's export to Russia during the first three months of the current Iranian year was 300,941 tons valued at $135 million and the export to Azerbaijan was 194,800 tons valued at $86 million.

"Russia and Azerbaijan were ranked 11 and 13 in Iran's export destination markets in 2019 but their ranking improved and these two countries were considered 10th and 9th export destination for Iranian commodities in 2020," he noted
