The volume of industrial production in Uzbekistan in the next five years, according to the country's new strategy, will increase by 1.4 times, Trend reports via Uzbek media.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced this at the Congress of the Uzbekistan Liberal Democratic Party, speaking with his election program. Congress is expected to approve the party's candidacy for the October presidential elections.
Mirziyoyev added that labor productivity will increase at least 2 times.
According to him, the production of copper and other products will double.
In the chemical industry, products worth $2 billion will be produced by increasing the degree of natural gas processing from 8 percent to 20 percent.
The size of the digital economy will be increased by at least 2.5 times, to $4 billion, the president said.
Each apartment and social institution will be connected to high-speed internet at an affordable price, highways will be 100 percent covered by mobile communications and the internet, he added.
The speed of the international backbone internet will increase 5 times, the speed of inter-district networks will increase 8 times.
