Georgia increases imports of new tires

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Sept. 14

Tamilla Mammadova – Trend:

Georgia paid $45.9 million for the import of new ($39.5 million) and worn-out ($6.4 million) tires from January through July 2921, Trend reports citing the Georgian National Statistical Office (Geostat).

According to Geostat, compared to the same period last year, imports of used tires decreased by 13.5 percent, while new tires increased by 9.4 percent.

According to Geostat, the TOP-3 importers of used tires include:

Germany - $2.1 million
Japan - $1.2 million
Switzerland - $940,300.

As for the importers of new tires:

China - $15 million
Turkey - $5.5 million
Japan - $3.3 million

In the first 7 months of 2021, Georgia exported new tires worth $8.1 million. Revenue from the export of new tires in the reporting period exceeded $14.1 million. This year Georgia supplied new tires to the Netherlands ($1.7 million), the United Kingdom ($1.4 million) and Ireland ($967,000).
