Turkmen-Kyrgyz trade turnover surges

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Oct.6

The balance of bilateral trade between Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan from January through July 2021 amounted to negative $11.6 million, Trend reports citing the Kyrgyz National Statistical Committee.

According to the committee, during the reporting period the volume of trade between the two countries amounted to $16.3 million, thus having grown by 2.2 times compared to the same period of last year ($7.8 million).

Meanwhile, the share of Turkmenistan in the total foreign trade of Kyrgyzstan amounted to 0.4 percent.

In the first eight months of 2021, the volume of exports of Kyrgyz products to Turkmenistan amounted to $2.3 million, which is 5.9 percent less than in the same period of 2020 ($2.4 million), and the share of Turkmenistan in the export of Kyrgyzstan amounted to 0.2 percent.

At the same time, the value of imports from Turkmenistan to Kyrgyzstan reached $4.9 million, which is 2.8 times more than from January through July 2020 ($4.9 million), while the share of Turkmenistan in Kyrgyzstan's imports amounted to 0.5 percent in the reporting period in 2021.
