By Amina Nazarli - Trend:

Turkmen entrepreneurs cultivating the paulownia tree will be able to grow healthy seedlings quickly and efficiently thanks to a microclonal method of plant propagation, Trend reports citing the "Turkmenistan: Golden Age".

The initiative was proposed by specialists of the biotechnological laboratory of Turkmenistan’s Technology Center under the Academy of Sciences.

This method, according to the laboratory's director, Aina Atayeva, is the most advanced and fundamentally new. In other words, it is a technique for growing plants in a test tube that is genetically identical to the original specimen.

The method accelerates the plant's transition to the reproductive phase of development and quickly frees it of viruses.

Currently, many farms in Turkmenistan are actively cultivating the fast-growing paulownia tree.

The advantages of tree cultivation are straightforward: it is unpretentious, and its timber, roots, leaves, and flowers are in high demand on the global market. Paulownia wood is commonly used in the production of furniture and musical instruments, while its roots, leaves, and flowers are used in pharmaceutical, perfumery, biotechnology, and other industries.
