Iran eyes increase in trade turnover with Russia

Iran's trade turnover with Russia increased by 41 percent in value and 12 percent in volume, during the first nine months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through December 21, 2021), compared to the same period last Iranian year, the Spokesman for the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) Rouhollah Latifi said, Trend reports citing the administration.

The spokesman noted that Iran’s trade turnover with Russia for the reporting period amounted to 3.5 million tons worth more than $1.65 billion.

"Over 9 months, Iran exported 838,000 tons of goods worth about $433 million to Russia, which is an increase of 29 percent in value and 15 percent in volume, compared to the same period last Iranian year," he added.

According to Latifi, Iran exported 447,000 tons of agricultural products worth $267 million to Russia in nine months, which accounts for 62 percent of Iran's total exports to Russia in value and 54 percent in volume.

The customs official also said that Iran imported 2.73 million tons of goods worth $1.22 billion from Russia within the mentioned period which is an increase of 45 percent in value and 11 percent in volume, compared to the same period last Iranian year.

Latifi stressed that Iran imported 2.41 million tons of agricultural and food products worth $967 million from Russia in 9 months, which accounts for 79 percent of Iran's total imports from the mentioned country in value and 88 percent in volume.
