BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 9

By Elnur Baghishov – Trend:

Iran exported about 759,000 tons of goods worth about $492 million to Azerbaijan, during the first 11 months of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2021 through February 19, 2022), the Spokesman for the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) Rouhollah Latifi told Trend.

The spokesman noted that Iran's exports to Azerbaijan for the reporting period increased by 5 percent in value, while decreased by 17 percent in volume, compared to the same period last Iranian year.

Latifi added that since the new Iranian government came to power (August 2021), Iran's exports to Azerbaijan increased significantly.

“Thus, Iran exported about 505,000 tons of goods worth more than $352 million to Azerbaijan in the last 6 months of the current Iranian year (August 23, 2021 through February 19, 2022). This means that on average, $58.7 million worth of goods were exported to Azerbaijan monthly for the last six months,” he said.

Meanwhile, in the first 5 months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through August 22, 2021), Iran's exports to Azerbaijan amounted to about 254,000 tons worth about $140 million. This means that on average, $28 million worth of goods were exported to Azerbaijan per month over the first 5 months.

The spokesman emphasized that the trade turnover between Iran and Azerbaijan for 11 months amounted to about 779,000 tons worth about $528 million.
