TEHRAN, Iran, May 9. The Iranian government is to run an online system for distributing bread subsidies based on identity codes, geographical regions, and social class, said the Minister of Economic Affairs and Finances Ehsan Khandoozi, Trend reports citing IRNA.
"The following system would also monitor the process of wheat import and flour distribution to factories, traditional and industrial bakeries," he said.
Khandoozi pointed out that the electronic system can prevent flour smuggling and control the market.
Furthermore, the government's priority is to reform the pricing structure and has worked with the Central Bank of Iran to create the system.
He went on to say that smuggling will be reduced after the increase in flour price, and the government seeks to stabilise the bread subsidies.
According to the minister, the following system would guarantee food security, and in the future other products could also be provided to people from this system.
