BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 2. Iran’s Government Trading Corporation (GTC) has purchased about 457,000 tons of wheat from farmers under a guarantee in the Kermanshah Province (western Iran), since the beginning of the current wheat harvesting season (started on March 24, 2022) in the country, Director General of the GTC’s branch in Kermanshah Province Mashallah Orveysi said, Trend reports citing the corporation’s website.

In addition, 57,700 tons of wheat have been purchased from farmers in the province under basis of contracts, Orveysi added.

The director general noted that in total, more than 514,000 tons of wheat have been purchased in the province within the mentioned period.

Orveysi also pointed out that 61 centers have been established in the province for guaranteed purchase of wheat.

According to him, the annual wheat consumption of the province is about 250,000 tons. According to the GTC’s program, additional wheat will be sent to other provinces of the country.

In general, 9 million tons of wheat are expected to be purchased in Iran in the current Iranian year (from March 20, 2022, through March 20, 2023). Of this, about 5.5 million tons are expected to be purchased by the GTC.

The price of 1 kg of wheat was set up at 115,000 rials (about $2.74) for the current Iranian year.

A number of products, including wheat, tea, rice, and other products are purchased from farmers by GTC under a guarantee in Iran.
