TEHRAN, Iran, August 10. About 50 percent of Iran's canned tuna and tomato paste producers have seized their activity due to the new pricing policy, said Vice president of Iran Syndicate of Canned Food Industries Masoud Bakhtiyari, Trend reports citing ILNA.
"The government has reduced the production price of canned tuna but the consumer price has increased on the market," he said, adding that people's purchase power has declined due to high prices.
He stressed that the increase in prices would lead to the gradual elimination of affordable commodities such as canned tuna from households.
Consumer Price Index CPI in Iran increased to 504.30 points in July from 482.00 points in June of 2022.
