Iran’s honey production expected to increase

BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 29. Iran’s honey production is expected to increase by 2.67 percent, during the current Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023), compared to last Iranian year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022), an official of Iranian Ministry of Agriculture Jihad, Touraj Saremi, said, Trend reports citing the ministry.

The official noted that a total of 115,000 tons of honey are expected to be produced in the country this year.

“Whereas, the figure stood at 112,000 tons in the last Iranian year,” he said.

Saremi also pointed out that a total of 145 billion rials (about $3.45 million) worth of loans have been issued to beekeepers in the country since the current government came to power in Iran (August 2021).

According to Saremi, a 4-year (from March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2026) program for the development of beekeeping in Iran has been prepared. Based on this program, beekeepers will be supported on insurance, risk reduction, production increase and other issues.
