BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 31. Iran’s non-oil exports through the customs of Khuzestan Province (south-western Iran) increased by 27 percent in value and 16 percent in volume, during the first five months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through August 22, 2022), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Customs Inspector of Khuzestan Province Behrouz Gharabeigi said, Trend reports citing Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA).
According to Gharabeigi, a total 7.5 million tons of goods worth about $3.36 billion were exported through the province's customs in 5 months.
“The main exported goods were polyethylene, steel ingot, ammonia, agricultural products, and these goods were mainly exported to China, the UAE, Iraq, Türkiye and India,” he added.
The customs official also pointed out that 7.02 million tons of goods worth $4.23 billion were imported through the province's customs within the mentioned period, which is an increase of 11 percent in value compared to the same period last Iranian year.
Gharabeigi said that corn, compressed soybeans, sugar, soybeans, raw materials, equipment were main imported goods through customs of Khuzestan Province. The mentioned goods were mainly imported from Brazil, Russia, China, the UAE and Germany.
The official noted that the province’s customs revenues for 5 months amounted to about 46 trillion rials (about $1.09 billion), which is an increase of 123 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year.
