BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 2. In general, Iran produced 25 million tons of raw steel, during the first 10 months of the current Iranian year, a member of the management board of Tehran Iron and Steel Union Mohammad Sadegh Chitsaz told IRIB, Trend reports.
“Of the mentioned volume, 8.3 million tons were exported and 16.7 million tons were consumed within the country,” he said.
Chitsaz added that in the last Iranian year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022), a total of 31 million tons of raw steel were produced in Iran, of which 9 million tons were exported and 21 million tons were consumed within the country.
The official also pointed out that steel consumed in many areas of the country, including the auto industry, is produced by large companies. Of these, Mobarakeh Steel Company can be specially mentioned. Currently, this company supplies 25 percent of the steel consumed in Iran’s auto industry.
According to him, the Mobarakeh Steel Company produces 6 million tons of raw steel annually. A total of 1.5 million tons are consumed in the country’s auto industry.
Iran’s steel production capacity is around 40 million tons annually. The figure is planned to increase to 55 million tons by 2025.
