BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 13. Iran's chicken egg exports amounted to 55,000 tons worth $100 million, over the last Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023), Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Iranian Laying Hens Association Hamidreza Kashani told IRNA, Trend reports.

Kashani noted that the export of chicken eggs can solve only a small part of the problems of poultry farmers.

According to him, poultry farmers in Iran face a serious problem in providing the animal feed. In the past year alone, the poultry farms for egg production faced losses worth 150 trillion rials (about $3.57 billion).

The chairman also said that producers sold a box of 30 eggs for 280,000-340,000 rials (about $6-$8) set by the Iranian Ministry of Agriculture Jihad.

"Meanwhile, it was proposed to the Ministry of Agriculture Jihad that a box of 30 eggs be sold by producers for 500,000 rials (about $12), and by stores for 600,000 rials (about $14) for the current year (March 21, 2023, through March 19, 2024)," he added.

Currently, a box of 30 eggs in Iran is sold to buyers for 950,000-1.1 million rials (about $22.6-$26).

On average, about 1 million tons of eggs are produced in Iran annually.
